Description:
During this neurology seminar, we will approach Multiple sclerosis (MS), stroke and epilepsy.
The nervous system and the endocrine system have a common objective: the maintenance of homeostasis.In addition to contributing to the maintenance of homeostasis, the nervous system is responsible for perceptions, behavior and memory, and controlling all voluntary movements.
In this first seminar on neurology, we will address the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of three diseases:
a) Multiple Sclerosis is a demyelinating disease that affects millions of people world-wide, and which is second only to trauma as the most common cause of neurological disability.
b) Stroke has become the third leading cause of death in industrialized nations, after cardiovascular disease and cancer.
c) Epilepsy is second only to stroke as the most widespread neurological disorder in the world.
Rose Haywood, one of Dr. Tran’s translators (from French to English lecture) has this to say about Dr. Tran’s approach to his seminars:
In Dr. Tran’s seminar he first spends time elaborating on the concepts according to allopathic medicine and then "makes the bridge" between allopathy and TCM. So, for example, he'll go into the basic anatomy and (to some extent) physiology of the relevant system, noting key facts on an overhead slide. He then revisits these notes, step-by-step, and explains each according to TCM. He does this in a detailed and systematic way, which provides you with a very unique learning opportunity.
He then proceeds to the treatment portion of his lecture. The treatment protocols and points are unique and wonderful, first because they come straight from the Chinese medical classics. These are classics that resided in Viet Nam and escaped the various purges that occurred over centuries in mainland China. These treatments have been systematically verified in Tran's own practice, so that when he says "you can use this point and that point, but I believe this point works better" he is speaking from his own experience.
Dr. Tran teaches all over the world and many of his students are not only acupuncturists but MDs as well.Many are internists and specialists with large medical and surgical caseloads. They take the knowledge from Tran’s seminars and use the techniques in their research and on seriously ill patients. They report back to Tran on their experiments, write papers and share their knowledge with others – creating an exciting ripple affect of shared knowledge.
Tran's material is cutting edge. He believes that there really is only one medicine, with allopathy being the material aspect and TCM being the energetic aspect.His philosophy is that you can't treat effectively without taking into consideration both perspectives. You will leave his seminar feeling that you've learned something you could never get anywhere else. And you can use it the next day in your practice.
The format for the three-day seminar will include Dr. Tran lecturing in French with an English interpreter, treatment demonstrations on patients, and question and answer sessions with Dr. Tran.

Instructor:Dr. Tran Viet Dzung, MD, is currently the faculty member in charge of acupuncture at the University of Medicine in Nice, France, and has been the assistant editor-in-chief of the Revue Francais de Medicine Traditionelle Chinoise since 1973. His achievements include being the founding member and president of the Association for Eastern Medicine, founder and member-of-honor of the Association of Physician Acupuncturists of America, and member-of-honor of the Medical American Academy of Acupuncture
After ten years of practicing medicine as a surgeon in France, Dr. Tran became acquainted withthe world-renowned acupuncturist and MD, Dr. Nguyen Van Nghi. For the next 30-plus years the two doctors joined forces in translating, clinically testing, and rewriting with commentary the ancient classical medical texts. Together, Drs. Van Nghi and Tran have translated over ten books in French, including the LingShu, DaCheng, NanJing, NeiJing and others.
